Technology of plant germplasm preservation and identification

1.In addition to cold storage and in
  situ (plantinig in native habitat)
  conservations, germplasm centers
  in foreign countries are using
  tissue culture and cryopreservation
techniques. We need to study their
  feasibility in long-term stability
  of stored materials.
2.Germplasm materials need to be properly identified or reidentified to ensure their true identity. In addition to morphological characters, biochemical techniques such as isozymes and RAPD offer powerful tools. We also need to develop their practical use in gemplasm identification.
