Germplasm is the foundation of
agricultural production. Regardless
of future developments in
biotechnology(e.g. genetransfer,
tissue culture, etc.), practical
use of advanced biotechniques is not
possible without germplsm. With the
rapid loss of germplasm materials
nowadays, the gathering and
preservation of germplasm take on new
urgency. Although we now have good
physical facilities and equipment,
we shalll need help from all
concerned people to provide us with
information on the level of research
and agricultural production through
richer germplasm collections. |
